How do things get so messed up?

Tony Stark's like two personalities at once, right now. On the one hand, he's the guy that saved the day at the bunker, making sure that Cyke and I didn't burn ourselves out for no reason and getting the bunker opened up soon enough to keep Dom's refugee group from a NASTY end..

As well as the guy who put together Project 42 behind our backs.

He saved half of mutantkind. I owe him for that. He's helped make sure that this 'compound' BS with restricting mutant movement went the way of the dodo. I owe him for that.

As well, with a mutant as 'the man' our people definitely will be spared a lot of their crap..

But is all that worth giving up my own morals and letting him walk all over what I believe in? They say that every man has his price.. Is this really mine?

HELL.

Tony's hard to figure out on the best of days and these certainly aren't the best of days.

Sometimes I think it was easier to deal with him during his glass tipping days.

I wouldn't doubt it. But locking up unregistered supers in the Negative Zone!?

If this is what happens when he's sober, we oughtta start a 'Keep Iron Man Drunk' fund.

That's going a bit too far.

I've also heard some rumors that Stark Enterprises and Reed have government contracts for designing and providing the equipment to deal with that.

*smiles* You know, that's almost tempting. But dealing with a drunk Tony isn't that much fun either. Trust me on that one.

Yeah, I saw something about no-bid contracts. Not really sure if that counts as profiteering, or just because they're the only ones who can handle the tech..

Not worth the sacrifice?

If they weren't providing the tech, costumes wouldn't be shipped off to the Negative Zone. They're betraying their own friends and family by doing this.

It's a hard call. I've babysat Tony in those days. I'd rather be shot at.

You know what I think.

Yeah.. Yeah, I do, Sis. But if I defect, all I bring along is me. I've got a lot more to work with in the belly of the beast.

*Sighs, then suddenly hugs his sister TIGHT* I've got my sister.. I've got family! Didn't even realize how much it hurt to have you gone until I got you back, Shard..

"I'm a lot more worried about you staying safe, bro. They get wind that you're even thinking it and..." She hugs him back just as hard. "Well, I'd make them regret it, whatever they did." She pulls back just a little, smiling up at him. "Hey now. None of that, all right? You've got me and you're not going to lose me."
